Amna Akhtar

Growing up in one of Birmingham's most inner-city areas, Amna dreamed of a life where she could create real change.

Upon realising that opportunities didn't exist within her environment she decided to create them instead. After dropping out of university in her first week, Amna Akhtar went on to set up two companies out of her bedroom. She has had international success as a fashion designer with her work being featured in British Vogue. She also set up the UK's first all women of colour longboard crew and has been featured on BBC Midlands and Channel 4 for her work in the Birmingham community with GirlDreamer.

Amna has also created what is now GirlDreamer's most iconic talking point - the empowerment jersey, which has been worn by hundreds of women around the world including YouTube sensation Lilly Singh aka iiSuperwomanii.

Stand before the people you fear and speak your mind - even if your voice shakes.
