Our commitment to the United Nations Global Compact
January 18th 2019
We are pleased to announce that Women for Women International has joined the UN Global Compact.
In December 2018, Women for Women International wrote to the United Nation's Secretary General, H.E António Guterres to express our support for the ten principles of the UN Global Compact with respect to human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption.
With this commitment to the UN Global Compact, we express our intent to support the Global Compact in advancing these principles.
We have also pledged to participate in and engage with the UN Global Compact in the following ways:
- Encourage companies we are in partnership with to adopt responsible practices, respect human rights, and advance gender equality and the rights of women.
- To explore partnerships with other UN Global Compact participants, to support corporate sustainability and the ten principles.
- To support the Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment workstream.
Women for Women International also recognize that a key requirement for participation in the Global Compact is the submission of a Communication on Engagement (COE) that describes our organization’s efforts to support the implementation of the ten principles and to engage with the Global Compact.
We support public accountability and transparency, and therefore commit to report on our progress within two years of joining the Global Compact and every two years thereafter according to the Global Compact COE policy.
