Katie is a former international athlete and award-winning sports broadcaster, covering World Cups to Olympic Games. The voice that sets the tone for the day on talkSport and sees you through the action pitchside on screen for the major tournaments; whether for ITV, Sky Sports or international networks. Katie interviews the biggest sporting stars of today (from Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland to Sarina Wiegman) and presents alongside the icons of the industry, cementing her place as a much-loved professional to have in the studio.
She’s affectionately dubbed “Save The Show Shanahan” for her status as the presenter who can seamlessly handle any live arena, at the pinnacle moments of national [sports] broadcasting. Prior to presenting, Katie competed globally for five years with England Hockey, winning bronze at the European Championships and clinching the Premiership title, before transitioning to become a leading voice in sports media. After earning a Distinction in her [Sports Journalism] Masters, Katie spent her foundation years at the BBC, covering Wimbledon to the Common Wealth Games, which set her upwards trajectory. With professional qualifications built over two decades, she has garnered unrivalled experience to establish the trust earned to become a leader in the field.
Today, outside her day job, Katie introduces corporate audiences to “The Next Play” a framework helping teams and leaders navigate change and uncertainty with innovation and confidence. Drawing on her experiences overcoming setbacks, embracing new challenges and thriving in chaotic arenas. She is also a proud ambassador for Women for Women International, a global organisation supporting survivors of war and conflict.
