Goal 1: No Poverty
End poverty in all its forms everywhere.
9% OF WOMEN PARTICIPANTS REPORT EARNING AT LEAST $1.90 A DAY
1.1 Eradicate extreme poverty (people living on less than $1.25 a day).
Since 2018, the number of women reporting any kind of employment in our programs in Iraq has consistently stayed below 12%. In 2021, this figure was just 9%. While during 2020 and 2021 external factors such as COVID-19 lockdown measures likely had an impact on this, we reflected that some of this was a result of the economic context in Iraq being different to some of the other contexts where we implement our programme, the economic and cultural context is such that there are greater barriers for women to overcome than in our other countries. In addition, the majority of women enrolled in our Iraq program in the past 2 years have been living in refugee camps. So although they express great appreciation to learn a vocational skill, they have even fewer opportunities to use that skill for employment. We have therefore been working to adapt our programme in Iraq to ensure that women can sustain and grow both new and existing businesses. We’ve worked to strengthen the business start-up kit we provide women, plus explore amplified skill-building that prepares women for existing employment opportunities if self-employment is not possible or sustainable.
Goal 1: No Poverty

15% OF WOMEN PARTICIPANTS REPORT SAVING A PORTION OF THEIR EARNINGS
1.5 By 2030, build the resilience of the poor and those in vulnerable situations and reduce their exposure and vulnerability to climate related extreme events and other economic, social and environmental shocks and disasters.
15% of graduates of our programme in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reported saving a portion of their earnings, compared to 9% at enrolment.
Whilst this percentage is still relatively low, it is positive that overall there is 66.7% increase given the context.
Throughout 2021, COVID-19 and associated lockdown measures continued to impact the women on our programmes and their ability to engage in income generating activities. This means that many women either used their existing savings or were unable to continue setting aside a portion of their earnings each month.

Goal 2: Zero Hunger
End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture
63% OF WOMEN GRADUATES REPORT NO FOOD SHORTAGE IN THE LAST 4 WEEKS
2.1 By 2030, end hunger and ensure access by all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations, including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round.
Upon graduating from our year-long programme, 63% of women reported having sufficient food in the house in the last four weeks compared to 51% at enrolment.
Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing
Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all, at all ages.
49% OF WOMEN PARTICIPANTS REPORT PRACTISING FAMILY PLANNING
3.7 By 2030, ensure access to sexual and reproductive health-care services, including family planning, information and education.
Women on our programme in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reported sometimes practising family planning, there was no percentage change between enrolment and graduation. The reason for this might be the long term impact on women’s agency from COVID-19.
Goal 4: Quality Education
Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
55% OF SCHOOL-AGED GIRLS (5-17 YEARS) IN SCHOOL
4.1 By 2030, ensure that all girls and boys complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcome.
Women graduates of our programme in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reported that 55% of girls were in school compared to 50% at enrolment.
Goal 5: Gender Equality
Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
53% INCREASE IN PERCEIVED SELF-EFFICACY OF WOMEN PARTICIPANTS
5.1 End all forms of discrimination against all women and girls everywhere.
The perceived self-efficacy of the women on our programme in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq has increased on graduation, from 0.49 on average to 0.75 on a scale of 0-1.
Goal 5: Gender Equality
Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
96% OF WOMEN REPORT BEING INVOLVED IN DECISIONS ABOUT HAVING MORE CHILDREN
5.6 Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights as agreed in accordance with the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development and the Beijing Platform for Action.
96% of women graduates of our programme in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq reported being involved in decisions about having more children compared to 85% at enrolment.
Goal 8: Good jobs and economic growth
Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all
9% OF WOMEN REPORT EMPLOYMENT
8.3 Promote development-oriented policies that support productive activities, decent job creation, entrepreneurship, creativity and innovation, and encourage the formalisation and growth of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises.
On graduation of our programme in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, 9% of women reported employment across all occupation compared to 3% at enrolment.
Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
41% OF WOMEN HAVE SPOKEN PUBLICLY AGAINST ABUSE OF WOMEN
16.1 Significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere.
41% of graduates from our programme in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI) reported publicly speaking out against abuse of women compared to 41% at enrolment.

Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
69% OF GRADUATES ARE MEMBERS OF A GROUP
16.7 Ensure responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels.
The percentage of women who discussed issues with other women in their community increased from 68% at enrolment with 69% at graduation. This consistency represents the high level of engagement that women of the KRI have with each other.
