Lebanon Conflict Response Fund
⚠️ Escalating Violence in Lebanon
We are working on supporting women in Lebanon as they face crisis and uncertainty
- Since March of 2026, Lebanon has entered a deadly phase of conflict, the most serious since November 2024
- Airstrikes on South Lebanon, including the Bekaa Valley and Beirut, have displaced 1.3 million people
- Ceasefires and peace negotiations are stalling while people suffer
What is happening in Lebanon:
Lebanon is in the grip of rapidly escalating violence in the Middle East. Deadly airstrikes across Southern Lebanon, on the Bekaa Valley, and in Beirut have displaced 1.3 million people who are now sheltering in schools, crowded apartments or sleeping in cars along the roadside.
Many of those displaced have already fled conflict before. Syrian and Palestinian families who rebuilt their lives in Lebanon are once again on the move, with nowhere stable to go.
More than 4.1 million people were already in need of humanitarian assistance before the March 2026 attacks on the country. The country has been facing economic collapse, with approximately 80% of the population living in poverty and lacking access to healthcare, education and basic amenities.
Meeting the Needs of Women Survivors in Lebanon:
Working through a trusted, women-led and women-serving organisation, we are moving quickly to provide:
- Emergency cash for food, shelter and basic needs
- Psychosocial support for those coping with loss
- Interventions to curb trafficking and sexual exploitation
About our Partner: KAFA
For more than two decades, KAFA has been working to prevent violence against women and support survivors. Their multidisciplinary team includes social workers, psychologists and legal experts who help women experiencing domestic violence, sexual violence, trafficking and exploitation.
In ordinary times, this work is critical. During a conflict and displacement crisis, it becomes even more urgent.
As families are uprooted, support systems fracture. Women lose access to income, housing, transportation and community networks. These conditions can increase the risk of trafficking and sexual exploitation – particularly for women already facing economic hardship or displacement.
KAFA operates a 24-hour hotline, as well as safe spaces where women can access support and specialised services designed to help survivors navigate complex legal, social and psychological challenges.
Through our Conflict Response Fund grant, women will be able to access:
- Emergency cash assistance for urgent protection needs
- Safe spaces offering psychosocial support and community
- Specialised case management from trained social workers
- Legal referrals and health services
Women who have lost homes, livelihoods or support networks are often forced to make impossible choices. KAFA ensures they have somewhere safe to turn, someone who will listen and services that help protect their dignity and rights during a time of crisis.
As the conflict continues, women in Lebanon need more than emergency relief. They need protection, support and trusted organisations equipped to respond to the multitude of risks that come with forced displacement.
