The #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale 2024

The chicest car boot sale ever raised over £370,000!

The #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale, supported by MINI and powered by Reselfridges, returned to Selfridges car park in central London on Saturday, 18th May, raising over £370,000!

Safer Spaces Policy

A safe space is a space in which people are protected from any kind or level of abuse.

Women for Women International staff are committed to prioritising the safety of event guests and staff. Harassment and inappropriate behaviour of event guests, panellists, staff or volunteers at our events will not be tolerated and anyone violating this policy at our events may be asked to leave without entitlement to any refund of ticket price. Past events

Join us for a free virtual screening of the film "Mediha", telling the story of a teenage Yazidi girl who has recently returned from ISIS captivity and has turned the camera on herself to process her trauma while rescuers search for her missing family members. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director of the film, Hasan Oswald.


In 2024, 63 million people worldwide are predicted to be displaced from their homes by violence and conflict (source: UNHCR). On World Refugee Day 2024, we heard from Aram Shakerm and Payvand Seyedali, Country Directors of Women for Women International Iraq and Afghanistan, about the compounding impacts of conflict and displacement and celebrated the courageous women we serve who are determined to carve a future for themselves out of the turmoil of their environment.


In honour of this year’s International Women’s Day, Women for Women International hosted #SheDares Stories: Amplifying Women's Voices, a virtual panel discussion on Thursday, 7th March 2024. Our panel shed light on the lives of courageous women in Sudan, Afghanistan and Palestine, daring to stand up for their rights and bring change — even in the most difficult and dangerous circumstances. On Wednesday, 21st February 2024 we were joined by Kateryna Shukh (Vice Chair of Bereginia Mariupol's Women's Association) & Clarissa Ward (CNN Chief International Correspondent), and Sara Bowcutt (Managing Director, Women for Women International - UK) for a discussion about how the war in Ukraine has impacted women.


On Wednesday, 13th December we were joined by Kalyani Hauswirth Jain, Creative Director and Senior Yoga Teacher at Arhanta Yoga, for a guided yoga class to help you stretch into the new year feeling refreshed and revitalised. 


This workshop helped our supporters learn the fundamentals of self-defence in this free woman-led, intensive, and trauma-informed virtual workshop.


On Wednesday, 1st November, we welcomed over 150 guests to celebrate 30 years of global sisterhood and the power of inspirational women at the V&A Museum. Following an evening reception, our guests were treated to an exclusive private view of the highly anticipated Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto exhibition.


From 6th – 18th September, we opened the doors to the DO GOOD pop-up in support of Women for Women International at Bicester Village!  This really was guilt-free and circular shopping at its best, with pre-loved, vintage and new designer pieces from over 50 brands and individuals. Visitors browsed cult classics from iconic brands and shopped from the wardrobes of fashion and style insiders, all at exceptional prices.


On Thursday, 20th July we were joined by CEO and Founder of Smart Girl Tribe Scarlett V Clark as she discussed her bestselling book The Smart Girl Handbook: How to Silence Self-Doubt, Find Your Purpose and Redefine the Impossible which shares top tips from her journey to success as well as practical exercises that will help you step into your power and design a life you love. 


On Sunday, 25th of June, we hosted our first fundraising #ShakeItInSisterhood Danceathon, in partnership with SOS Dance at Siobhan Davies Studios in London. We're in awe that despite the heat dancers made it through all six routines with the same energy and smiles on their faces.


Hosted by Alex Eagle, the #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale returned to Selfridges Car Park in central London on Saturday, 20th May. The 2023 #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale raised over £280,000! 100% of this will go towards Women for Women International's work supporting women survivors of war.


On 30th March 2023 we were joined by CNN Chief International Correspondent Clarissa Ward as she discussed her book On All Fronts: The Education of a Journalist, a portrait of her experiences as a world-renowned conflict reporter. From Baghdad to Beijing, her courageous journalism has taken her to some of the world’s most dangerous places.


We held a virtual dance class in partnership with School of SOS, where A-list choreographer Kelechi taught us a confidence-boosting routine to Grown Woman by Beyoncè.


The #SheInspiresMe Lunch is an annual gathering celebrating the inspirational power of women. This year's lunch was hosted by Tina Daheley with guest speaker Clarissa Ward.


On Saturday 14th May the doors opened to Selfridges car park for the #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale. With a superstar line-up of 25 boots, this really was the chicest car boot sale ever. So far we have raised over £240,000 to support women survivors of war.


As part of #WomensHistoryMonth we held a virtual film screening of the BAFTA-winning and Oscar-nominated documentary For Sama, followed by a panel discussion and Q&A.

The #SheInspiresMe Lunch is an annual gathering celebrating the inspirational power of women. Guest speaker Waad al-Kateab was in conversation with our host BBC journalist and presenter Tina Daheley. 


To celebrate World Food Day and our Serving Up Sisterhood campaign we joined renowned Congolese-French Chef Mick Élysée in his kitchen for a virtual cooking class. Visit the event page for the delicious recipes Mick shared at the event.


On Wednesday 26th May 2021 from 6-7pm BST, there was a free panel discussion with Jasmila Žbanić, writer and director of the Oscar-nominated film Quo Vadis, Aida?.

Following the success of our two Virtual Car Boot Sales last year, we were delighted to bring the all-day fashion extravaganza back on Saturday 15th May!


Women for Women International hosted our very first celebration of wellness on Saturday 20th March kindly supported by imayla beauty. The all-day online festival designed to restore mind, body and spirit included inspiring talks, workshops and strength-building workouts.


As part of our campaign #PowerToChange, we held a Virtual Book Club on World Book Day with Soraya Chemaly discussing her book 'Rage Becomes Her'.  Watch the recording of the discussion to learn about the power of using anger as a force for positive transformation.

On 27th January 2021 we hosted an inspiring, hands-on workshop with Brita Fernandez Schmidt, Executive Director of Women for Women International-UK and author of the new book Fears to Fierce.

Hot on the heels of our very first Virtual Car Boot Sale in May earlier this year we were delighted to bring the all-day fashion extravaganza back on Saturday 7th November! Thanks to the incredible on the day sales and the generosity of our sponsors we have raised over £88,000!⁠⠀ ⁠⠀


On Thursday, 1st October at 6pm, we held an online premiere of our #HopeInSisterhood film.

The film was ollowed by a panel discussion with three inspiring women. Women for Women International - UK Executive Director Brita Fernandez Schmidt will be joined live by filmmaker Hazel Thompson and Seida Sarić, Director of Žene za Žene, an independent affiliate organisation of Women for Women International in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

#SheInspiresMe LIVE was back for a day of inspiring talks and interactive workshops: we brought our global community together, shared ideas and skills, and got energised to transform our world in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. Together, we reflected on the unmissable opportunity we have to build a “new normal” for future generations. 


Our very first Virtual Car Boot Sale was a phenomenal success! The seven-hour fashion extravaganza, supported by DS-Automobiles, raised an incredible £77,184 for women survivors of war.


On 11th February 2020, Women for Women International and Jo Manoukian will host an evening of dance and empowerment.


The #SheInspiresMe Lunch is an annual gathering celebrating the inspirational power of women. In 2019 we were joined by guest speaker Arwa Damon, multi-award-winning Senior International Correspondent for CNN, in conversation with our host BBC journalist and presenter Tina Daheley.


On Saturday 11th May, Women for Women International hosted the biggest #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale yet. We welcomed over 1,800 fashion lovers to Brewer Street Car Park for an afternoon of exceptional fashion and beauty, all to benefit women survivors of war.


On the 26th February 2019, Women for Women International and Jo Manoukian hosted an evening of dance and empowerment.


From 29th October - 19th November, Women for Women International held its inaugural #SheInspiresMe Auction, culminating in a VIP invite only reception hosted by Sotheby’s on Monday 19th November.


On Saturday 30th June, 2018 we hosted our first ever Feminist Festival in partnership with Refinery29. The day was full of inspiring talks and hands-on workshops to energise a new generation of feminist changemakers.


On Saturday 12th May, 2018 Women for Women International hosted the #SheInspiresMe Car Boot Sale, offering high fashion items at great prices. We were joined by high fashion designers and brands for an afternoon of exceptional fashion and beauty, all to benefit women survivors of war.


The #SheInspiresMe Lunch is an annual gathering celebrating the inspirational power of women. In 2017 the event was hosted by Women for Women International Ambassador MyAnna Buring, in conversation with keynote speaker Clarissa Ward, multi award-winning Senior International Correspondent for CNN.
